Collaborations and Partnerships
UW Oshkosh’s impact on the region extends far beyond its brick-and-mortar boundaries. The institution’s economic contribution to the state totals more than $500 million annually. As an incubator of creativity, knowledge and innovation, the University extends faculty expertise through collaborations with schools, businesses and communities regionally as well as nationally and globally.
Education
Building on UW Oshkosh’s legacy of educating first-rate teachers, the University forges many key educational partnerships. From housing the state’s largest Head Start program to collaborating with NEW ERA (Northeast Wisconsin Educational Resource Alliance) and the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), these partnerships positively impact students of all educational levels.
Business
The University extends its expertise to the region’s business and industry sectors through involvement with the New North consortium, the Wisconsin Family Business Forum and other key initiatives, contributing to workforce development, economic growth and the overall quality of life in northeastern Wisconsin. Discover Oshkosh
UW-Oshkosh is centrally located in the community, which is made up of more than 66,500 people. Oshkosh is surrounded by two lakes and the Fox River, making it the perfect setting for water enthusiasts. Kayaks, paddle boards and more are available to rent from our state-of-the-art Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
Downtown Oshkosh, less than one mile from campus, offers bistro-style coffee houses, dining, shopping and more. The Paine Art Center and Gardens, the Grand Opera House and the Leach Amphitheater, all within walking distance from campus, offer unique and accessible cultural and artistic performances and exhibitions. Oshkosh also is home to country and rock music festivals, which attract national artists each year, as well one of the world’s largest aviation extravaganzas.

For those interested in the arts, the Paine Art Center and Gardens and Grand Opera House offer unique cultural and theatrical events and presentations. Attracting more than 800,000 people, Oshkosh is renowned for its Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture and Museum, the world’s largest aviation celebration.

Appleton: Within a half-hour drive from campus, you can attend a Broadway show at Appleton’s world-class Fox Cities Performing Arts Center (PAC), visit the premier shopping center, Fox River Mall, or catch a Wisconsin Timber Rattlers baseball game, a minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Green Bay: An hour drive from campus, Green Bay offers additional entertainment options. Students can attend a major musical or theatrical performance at the Resch Center or Meyer Theatre, or enjoy a Green Bay Packers football game at historic Lambeau Field.
Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago: For day or weekend trips, Oshkosh is conveniently located within a two-hour drive of Milwaukee and Madison and within a three-hour drive of Chicago. These bigger cities offer a plethora of things to do — from attending sporting events and concerts to visiting museums and experiencing downtown shopping.

Titans have won 50 National Championships
UW Oshkosh is 2nd in the UW System in NCAA Division III National Championships.
#1 best place for new college graduates
Oshkosh-Neenah area was ranked “#1 Best Place for New College Graduates” in 2024 by smartasset.com.
Only nationally accredited business school in NE Wisconsin
The College of Business’s AACSB accreditation makes it the only nationally accredited business school in NE Wisconsin. Only 5% of the world’s business schools hold this honor.
Over 150 awards in media industry
Since 2012, Radio TV Film students have won over 150 awards in the media industry
39 consecutive Outstanding Delegation awards
UWO has one of the most successful Model UN programs in the world, receiving 39 consecutive Outstanding Delegation awards at international competitions.
SMEF manages $1 million in assets
The College of Business’s Student Managed Endowment Fund manages $1 million in assets. SMEF provides hands-on investment management experience to undergrad students.
First Fair Trade University
UW Oshkosh became the nation’s first Fair TradeUniversity in 2008. UWO aims to use fair trade products whenever possible across its campuses.
Designated Tree Campus USA
The Oshkosh campus has been designated a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation each year since 2010. Only 383 colleges and universities hold this honor. The Fox Cities campus also carries Tree Campus USA distinction.
Top 100 public nursing schools
Nursing Schools Almanac recently ranked UWO among the top 100 public nursing schools in the nation. Of the 3,000+ institutions considered, only 6% made the list.
