The Alerts are used to display emergency, and other priority, messaging at the very top of the page above the global header. Alerts exist as both a block type and a custom post type. These work in tandem—the block is not meant for use within page content. Once the appropriate content has been added to an alert, publishing it will display the alert across the entire site. To remove the alert, change the publishing status back to draft.

The alerts have two color options: Default (black), and Red. Red is meant to be used for true emergencies, and black can be used for other priority messaging. Examples of both color types have been created in the Alerts custom post type. These can be edited and published as needed. Explore the functional example of an alert below.

Primary Alert

Alert description text. Best practice is to limit this text to the essential details, and 1-3 sentences. Additional details can be provided via the call to action link.
