processing 26-27 FAFSA submissions. As they work through all the applications received, the Department of Education will send a notice to the student\u2019s email used on the FAFSA. We are currently packaging students weekly. Please watch your UWO email account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/h\/apply-for-aid\/fafsa\">Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is FAFSA simplification?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fsapartners.ed.gov\/knowledge-center\/topics\/fafsa-simplification-information\">The FAFSA Simplification Act<\/a> is a significant overhaul of federal student aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, need analysis, and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in the Title IV programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What do students need before filling out the FAFSA?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/articles\/things-you-need-for-fafsa\/?int=off\">6 Things Students need before they fill out the FAFSA Form<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Significant Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Contributors<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone who is required to add information to a FAFSA application is considered a contributor. For dependent students, this would include a parent (or both), and for independent students, this may include a spouse. Each contributor will be required to have a FSA ID, and consent to sharing their information on the FAFSA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/fsa-id\/create-account\/launch\">Federal Student AID Account Set Up<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Direct Data Exchange and Consent<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Manual entry of taxes will be a thing of the past! Any person contributing to or completing the FAFSA must now consent to use the IRS <strong>Direct Data Exchange<\/strong> which will pull IRS data directly into the FAFSA. Consent is a requirement, and those who do not consent will be ineligible for Federal aid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Student Aid Index<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Student Aid Index (SAI) is a number calculated upon completion of the FAFSA. This is replacing the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC). An SAI, like an EFC, is used in determining eligibility for federal and state aid. It is anticipated that additional students will qualify for Pell grants due to this change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/aid-estimator\/\">Federal Student Aid Estimator<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Unusual Circumstances<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students requesting a review or appeal of dependency status will now appeal their unusual circumstances. This can include any factor that impacts the ability to provide parent (or contributor) information.
